OpenSCAD Model of Hot Cathode

8 05 2012

Here’s a rendering of the hot cathode and the cylinder mentioned in the last post. The important dimensions here are diameter of the holes in the cylinder, and their distance between them, because they were made according to the measurements of the actual cathode. The rest of the dimensions are approximate. We will take more measurements and tweak the model to fit them.

Here’s a link to the OpenSCAD code.

Hi Mark,
It looks like this gent (http://www.nuclearfusionpower.us/blog/?p=87) is trying to make a polywell as well; he has run into the same/similar problem with electron guns as well. It looks like hot emitters have issues raising his pressures, so he is using cold emitters. Not sure if you’ve seen his stuff and wanted to send you the link. Good luck!
